Recently, an accident involving two big rigs in New Braunfels, TX, left one of the drivers hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. The accident occurred in the 48-hundred block of southbound I-35, close to the TA truck stop at Kohlenberg Road. The injury victim was airlifted to the University Hospital in San Antonio.

The accident, which took place at approximately 12:30 p.m., happened when the driver of an 18 wheeler struck the back of the other big rig, causing the cab of the of the first rig to catch fire. Immediately following the accident, both north and southbound lanes of I-35 were shut down. Northbound lanes were opened just minutes later, but southbound lanes were closed for almost 3 hours in order for law enforcement to investigate the scene and firefighters extinguish the blaze. Haz-Mat teams were standing by, but it was believed there were no hazardous materials on either truck.

Luckily, no one was killed in this truck accident. Any accident involving an 18-wheeler is bad enough, but when lives are lost it becomes particularly devastating. In this accident, it isn’t clear what happened, whether the driver of the 18 wheeler wasn’t paying attention or was perhaps driving at unsafe speeds.

Most people are completely unaware of how common accidents involving big trucks really are. Every day across the nation, dozens of people are injured in these types of accidents. In most cases, the occupants of a normal size car or truck will sustain the more serious of injuries, simply because normal size vehicles are no match for these massive trucks, which often weigh 40,000 lbs. and as much as 80,000 lbs. when loaded.

Buffalo NY’s Brown Chiari is a New York truck accident law firm dedicated to providing strong, effective legal counsel for those who have been injured in accidents involving large commercial trucks. Contact us today for a free evaluation of your case.

Recently, Consumer Reports reported that the circuit boards for auxiliary water pumps in BMW’s can overheat, which could potentially lead to a vehicle fire or smoldering of the pump. Now, BMW has recalled 32,000 of its vehicles and as of the date of the recall, no accidents had been reported.

The vehicles included in this recall are:

2008 – 2011 7-Series
2008 – 2011 X5 SAV
2008 – 2011 5-Series Gran Turismo
2008 – 2011 X6 SAV vehicles equipped with 8 or 12 cylinder turbocharged engines

According to BMW, the water pumps work to cool the turbocharger, and failure of the electronic circuit board could lead to potential hazards. The automaker told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that in most instances, a warning on the instrument panel would inform the driver of the problem. BMW did report that while there were two cases of fires in the engine compartment reported out of 102 cases of pump failures around the world, no accidents or injuries were related to the defect.

The recall was voluntary according to BMW, however under federal law the NHTSA must be informed of a safety defect within five days of plans for a recall when a manufacturer becomes aware of a safety defect, or face civil penalties. While auto manufacturers may claim to voluntarily recall vehicles due to defects, it is required by law.

Thankfully, it appears that no one has been hurt or lost their life because of this defect. Every year, tens of thousands of individuals are injured or killed due to products that are defective or mislabeled, including children’s toys, medications, household chemicals, electronics, automobiles and other items.

Recently, a 25-year-old Dundee resident was killed after the tractor-trailer rig he was driving plunged down an embankment and struck a tree. The driver, John Stinson-Rogers, was killed in the accident at around 3 a.m. on October 31st.

The accident occurred in Erwin, NY on westbound I-86 between exits 43 and 42, or the Coopers Plains and Painted Post/Victory Highway exits. According to troopers, the truck veered off the right side of the highway and slid down the embankment at which point it overturned and slid for several hundred feet on its side before crashing in to a tree. The impact of striking the tree left the cab crushed with extensive damage.

Stinson-Rogers was hauling bulk milk; no other passengers were in the truck, and no other vehicles were involved in the accident, which closed I-86 between exits 43 and 42 for approximately 8 hours. East Campbell, Coopers Plains and Painted Post fire departments assisted state police at the scene. Spill response personnel from the state Dept. of Environmental Conservation were also called in to assess potential environmental impact due to milk and diesel fluid spills at the scene.

The cause of the crash was not known at the time, and investigations continued. Could Stinson-Rogers have fallen asleep at the wheel? Drivers often drive on too little sleep in order to meet pick-up or delivery deadlines. Driver fatigue could have been to blame. Faulty tires or negligent maintenance of the tractor-trailer rig could have been a factor. Hopefully we will learn more in the coming days and weeks.

A tragic accident occurred early Tuesday morning, October 11th, when a husband and wife were killed following a crash between the limousine they were riding in and a tractor trailer that was backing out of a construction site.

Monroe and Mireille Danbury were on Route 130 between Ward Avenue and Highbridge Road at approximately 4:45 in the morning when the accident took place in Bordentown, New Jersey. They were headed for the airport where they were scheduled to fly to Saint Martin in the Caribbean to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary.

Police said that a Mack tractor-trailer was backing out into southbound Route 130 when the limousine struck the tractor-trailer. Greg L. Matthews, 42, was driving the tractor-trailer and was attempting to back onto the shoulder of the highway; while the driver of the limousine saw lights on the rear of the trailer, darkness prevented him from being able to see the trailer itself. As he attempted to swerve to the right to avoid the trailer lights, the limo crashed into the trailer. Police Captain Norman Hand said that there were no streetlights, and that “It’s one of those very unfortunate cases.”

No charges have been filed as of now, and the investigation is ongoing. According to police, both Danburys were wearing seatbelts, but sustained very serious injuries, partially believed to be due to their ages. Mireille Danbury was 68; Monroe was 71 years old. He was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton, along with 24-year-old Jesse L. Graves of Trenton, who was driving the limousine. Danbury was transferred to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton to undergo surgery, where he died during the procedure.

Lt. Brian Pesce of the Bordentown Township Police said that they are investigating the culpability of the tractor-trailer driver.

I just got back to Dallas (talked to attorney there) so it is time to write again. All in all, there are many ways to lower your car insurance costs without loosing important coverage. First of all, your insurance company might offer some discounts, but you have to ask them about it. For example, motorists with less mileage per year are eligible for lower rates. Nowadays, people try to drive less because of high gas prices and you may qualify for a discount. Installing additional safety equipment may help earning discounts. Incidentially if you are in Dallas, Texas and need a top notch Dallas car accident attorney who is also a personal injury lawyer and handles truck, motorcycle, wrongful death cases in addition to being a car accident attorney, this is a great one.

Parking in a covered garage instead of street parking will keep your car safer from vandalism and may lower your rates with some insurance companies. Also, if your deductibles are higher your annual insurance rates are lower. If you are a safe driver you may consider higher deductibles. Taking a safe driving course approved by your insurance company will help you get lower rates with the most companies.

Using combined policies with the same company will get you a better deal. You may also add home or life insurance. Adding an experienced older driver lowers the risk of accidents and your insurance costs. If you drive a mid-size sedan you qualify for cheapest rates. Insurance for small cars is more expensive due to potential major damage. Compare insurance quotes from three major companies annually.

When you’re involved in a personal injury lawsuit, lawsuit loans help you level the
playing field against insurance companies. Personal injury cases often take months
and even longer to settle, and insurance companies know this. They know that you
are likely having trouble paying your bills and try to force you in to cheap
settlements. Insurance companies are in business to make money just like everyone
else, but don’t let them make money off of you! Settlement funding companies help
you avoid settling with insurance companies, so that you get the full compensation
you are entitled to.

Many times people are injured seriously and cannot work. This means that while you
have less income coming in to your home, medical expenses begin to pile up on top of
your other household bills. lawsuit loans make it possible for you to pay all of
those monthly obligations so that you can live comfortably and concentrate on
winning your lawsuit. Settlement funding companies offer this “cash advance”
against your settlement based on the details of your lawsuit.

With lawsuit loans, how long do you have to wait to get your money? If you qualify,
you will have the money you need the very next day. Qualifying is easy; your lawyer
simply submits an application to the settlement funding company who then reviews it
the same day. This application pertains only to your case; you do not have to
submit information regarding your credit or work history or anything else.

Lawsuit loans allow you to pay monthly utility bills, medical expenses, attorney
fees and even costs for repairing your car if it was damaged in the accident. You
can breathe a sigh of relief and put your entire focus on winning your lawsuit
because you do not have money worries constantly nagging at the back of your mind.
Litigation financing companies make pursuing justice so much easier, and you should
never be forced to settle for less than you deserve because you cannot afford to
continue on with your lawsuit.

Depending upon how much you expect to win, lawsuit loans offer anywhere from $500 to
$250,000 and more. If you are having trouble paying the bills but don’t want to
agree to a cheap settlement from the insurance company, learn more about litigation
financing and talk to your attorney today. There is light at the end of the tunnel!

It is good to be back from Denver CO to good old South Carolina (man I love SC and also North Carolina), had to speak to a property manager and general contractor over there. According to the Associated Press, a new research by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found that red light cameras have cut car accidents by 24 percent in 14 cities where the cameras were installed since 1996. Institute president Adrian Lung thinks that cameras help saving people because they remind us that we shouldn’t run the red light,or we’d receive a ticket in the mail. I personally agree that people need to think about the consequences (financial that is, because the drivers are not too worried about killing somebody or themselves). Oh by the way I can endorse this excellent Denver Co Electrician license if you need help with your contractors license over there in Denver CO including Electrical panel upgrade, Lighting installation and Recessed lighting.
However, National Motorists Association Executive Director Gary Biller has some doubts about that research’s results. He says that previous researches found that cameras at the traffic lights actually increase the number of accidents. That’s hilarious! For every study there’s always another study on the same subject with
completely opposite results. Biller thinks there are less expensive alternatives, like making yellow lights last longer.
I personally like this option much better then getting a ticket in the mail. Nobody remembers anymore that yellow light means that you should slow down and be prepared to make a complete stop. That’s what a driver’s book says, not what really happens on the road. In New Jersey this is really the case. Speaking of that, if you are in that state and need a first rate sc insurance firm then allow me to suggest this ace firm. All in all, they have been a leading such firm in sc or North Carolina for some time now. When the drivers see the yellow light from a distance, they step on gas and try to beat the light. If you decide to slow down and not run the “orange
light”, the driver behind you more likely will be surprised and might rear-end your car. In that case, it really helps to have a huge SUV, especially in the crazy nc or Denver CO traffic. When a mid-size sedan hit my SUV, the little Toyota Corolla was completely ruined. My SUV, however, got out of this accident without a scratch. That’s why I strongly recommend to all my sc friends to get themselves a bigger car, or better
yet, drive a tank.

I just returned from Kansas City back to Washington D.C. and wanted to post a fresh insurance article. Modern insurance law probably has roots in ancient Babylonian merchant trading in the 3rd millennium BC. The earliest contracts, in which the burden of the happening of uncertain events was transferred to another at a price, were not what we know today as insurance contracts at a premium.
They were an addition or intrinsic part of the maritime loan developed by the Babylonians in the 3rd millennium BC. In the Babylonian method, a fee included a loan for the procurement of the cargo to be traded. The lender would then take on the risk of the cargo shipment during its voyage.
Thousands of years later, during in the 12th and 13th centuries, along came the bankers of the Hanseatic League, which was an alliance between trading cities and their guilds along the coast of Northern Europe in the later Middle Ages, spanning the Baltic to the North Sea. Incidentially if you are in Kansas City then I can suggest this fine Kansas City insurance attorney
The Hanseatic cities had a specific system for laws and trading and may be considered self-insurers. The League and the financiers of Lombardy, Italy, allied under the entity, Lombard Street, in the London.
They knew that trading by sea was extremely perilous and sought ways to distribute the risk and potential losses shipping inevitable incurred.
As English maritime trade flourished, London became the financial nexus of an insurance market that expanded itself well into the 1,700’s to become the largest in the world. Lombard Street buzzed with news and proposals for maritime adventures. While there are speciality insurance lawyer firms there are also those law firms which specialize in trademark, copywrite and internet law. If in Washingtom DC then you may wish to considee this particular Washington DC trademark attorney who is very good overall.
In the 1,700’s judge William Murray, Lord Mansfield, was pioneering the first laws of insurance that we are recognizable to us today.
Mansfield helped to pull together an amalgam of “Those leading principles which may be considered the common law of the sea….” Of course as I said this a whole specialty area of law. If you were a Kansas City DWI attorney or for that matter a DUI attorney for example, you would not be engaged (probably) in insurance, copywrite or trademark law.
Generally speaking, things like DWI
Today, insurance law encompasses the practices of law governing insurance practices, including insurance policies and claims, protecting consumers as well as business entities, and other organized human endeavors
Insurance business regulation seeks to assure the financial integrity of insurance companies by overseeing their practices of setting rates, reserve accounts and underwriting specifics.

For some people, traveling is not much fun – especially if things start out on a sour note! If the Philly airport parking and shuttle services you now use leave you feeling a bit less than satisfied, you can take your business elsewhere. Your rushing around trying to make your flight, the shuttle is running behind, and your nerves are on edge. If this has happened to you, we understand it is not the best way to start out on a vacation adventure or business trip!

Smart Park is the premier Philly airport parking and shuttle services facility that you can count on for secure parking, on-time shuttles and exceptional customer service. Why spend your time worrying about whether the shuttle will get you to the airport on time, when you can be relaxed and looking forward to your trip? Our shuttles get you to the airport within 10 to 15 minutes of your arrival at our facility; simply park your car, and a shuttle is waiting to whisk you to the airport quickly and safely.

What about when you return from your trip – will you have to wait for 30 minutes for a shuttle to pick you up and return you to your car? Absolutely not. We know that you’re tired and ready to be on your way; just call from the courtesy phones, and a shuttle will be there within 5 to 10 minutes to deliver you safely back to your car. That’s what you get with superior Philly airport parking and shuttle services!

In a world where crime and theft is rampant, it’s natural to worry about the safety of your car while you are away. You want a Philly airport parking and shuttle services facility known for secure parking grounds, so that you know your vehicle (a large investment) is well protected. All parking grounds are monitored around the clock by staff members, both on foot and by shuttle to ensure that your car is safe. Bright lights and secure fencing add to the peace of mind you experience no matter how far or how often you travel.

Look forward to friendly, helpful employees and those little “extras” that often mean more than anything, such as assistance should you have a flat tire upon your return – at no charge! Instead of seeing faces of employee’s who look like they would rather be doing anything than working, you will see friendly faces of staff members who want to make your experience as pleasant and worry-free as possible. The next time you travel, choose the Philly airport parking and shuttle services known for excellence!

Are you sick and tired of listening to the same old songs until they are stuck in your mind for the entire day? iPod car adapters change all this. You no longer have to listen to the top twenty, nor do you have to listen to commercial interruptions or deejay banter! Now, you can enjoy your own particular style of music no matter where you go – and you’ll never lose your station, either.

The type of iPod car adapter you choose depends on various factors, such as how old your car is and how much money you want to spend. Cassette adapters are perfect for those who have older model cars (back in the 90’s) that may have come direct from the factory with a cassette player. These are the most affordable option as well, and you can expect good sound quality, though not quite a good as with the built-in jack or FM transmitter.

Whether you just want to spend $30 or love your own style of music so much that you are willing to spend $200 or more, iPod car adapters are essential for those with a true love for music. You never lose your signal, so you can drive from New York to California and enjoy the same outstanding sound quality. This means that you have all of your tunes in one easy location, so no more fumbling around trying to find that CD you want to listen to!

You no longer have to wear headphones while your driving, which is risky anyway. Since the music pipes out right through your stereo speakers, anyone riding with you will enjoy the tunes as well! iPod car adapters are the greatest invention since the iPod itself. You choose the songs, you choose the artists – whatever is on your playlist is what you will enjoy as you cruise around town or drive thousands of miles heading for your vacation destination.

Most iPod car adapters are fairly easy to install, and chances are you can do it yourself. However, if you feel that you don’t have the technical abilities to install your adapter, there are professionals who will do it for you. Whether you choose the cassette, FM transmitter or built-in jack, you will find that iPod car adapters make driving fun again. All across the miles, you will totally enjoy one song after the other, no commercials allowed.
