I just returned from Salt Lake City in Utah state and thought I would post this article now that I am back in writing mode, what a life: Caring for a pet is different today than it was a couple of decades ago. Nowadays your pet becomes ill and the vet might offer very expensive treatments, like a life-saving operation for example.
Not long ago pet insurance sounded like a wacky thing. Certainly something that can be done without. But now with sophisticated treatments becoming more routine, it doesn’t sound quite so crazy.
Personally, I think saving the money you might spend on pet insurance for the day that Fluffy the cat, or Bowser the dog become ill, is the way to go. You collect the interest on that money in the meantime.
Insurance coverage for your pet might cost you from nearly $2,000 to more than $6,000 over Fluffy or Bowser’s lifetime. I personally can’t imagine spending that much on my pet.
But I know people who would spend that much and more to save their pet. In their case pet life insurance might be a reasonable way to prepare for possible eventualities.
Vets are now employing ever more sophisticated screening and diagnostic tools, such as MRIs. Thus, there are more conditions being caught than there used to be.
